A Flamekeeper’s Prayer

From heart to hearth I take this flame

And hallow kindling in Your name.

Light and shadow, holy dark,

I nurture forth this sacred spark.

Blessed is the work of hands:

I set aside other demands.

Blessed is the love of heart:

I turn myself toward gentler arts.

Blessed is the gleam of mind:

I call You and am called in kind.

From candlelight to burning coal

I tend the flame – You tend my soul.
